On 18th and 19th September 2025, a GovPay onboarding awareness workshop was successfully held in Jaffna with the participation of officials representing District and Divisional Secretariats from Jaffna, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, and Mannar, together with Local Government Authorities of the Northern Province.

The first day of the program was dedicated to the five District Secretariats [Jaffna, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, and Mannar]. Officials from 36 organizations and over 60 government staff members, including five representatives from the Auditor General’s Department, participated. The sessions were graced by Hon. Bimal Ratnayaka, Minister, who emphasized the importance of digital transformation in enhancing transparency, efficiency, and citizen services. Participants also received practical training on the GovPay platform, equipping them with the knowledge to integrate digital payment services into their daily operations.

The second day focused on Local Government Authorities, drawing more than 40 officials from 21 organizations, including Municipal Councils, Urban Councils, and Pradeshiya Sabhas. The sessions were attended by Hon. Nagalingam Vedanayakam, Governor of the Northern Province, along with senior provincial officials and representatives from ICTA and LankaPay.

Discussions centered on governance frameworks, policy alignment, and a province-wide roadmap for GovPay adoption.

This two-day program demonstrated the Government’s strong commitment to driving inclusive digital transformation, ensuring that government institutions at every level are prepared to deliver secure, citizen-friendly online services. The Ministry of Digital Economy, together with ICTA and LankaPay, reaffirmed their pledge to expand GovPay nationwide as a cornerstone of Sri Lanka’s digital governance agenda.
